Perhaps We haven't seen the last of Peter Mills on Chicago Fire. Charlie Barnett, who played the paramedic turned firefighter turned cook for the first three seasons, says he's down to return to the firehouse as long as there's still room for him.

"I have had hate discussions about it. I would love to but I haven't had the opportunity, "he customs TV Guide during the premiere for the Netflix's series Russian Dolls. "There's a lot of things going on in the show so I don't know where they'd fit me in."

Mills left Fire at the end of Season 3 to open a new restaurant with his family in North Carolina. His absence was field by the entire crew and there's no doubt they'd welcome the charming cook back with open arms should the opportunity arise. But with all spots filled for Truck 81, Rescue Squad 3 and Ambo 61, bringing him back into the fold right now would be next to impossible. However, Barnett has the perfect solution for that: a spin-off with Peter's old flame, Gabby Dawson (Monica raymund), who left the fire house at the end of Season 6 to help with disaster relief in Puerto Rico.

"Monica [Raymund]and I have had a little dream of us creating a spin-off show: Me cooking in North Carolina, here traveling back and forth from Puerto Rico and democratising some sort of world down there," he said, noting that it wouldn't ever happen. "But I would absolutely be open to returning."

Peter and Gabby's return to Fire seems like a longshot at the moment but we've got our fingers crossed. In the mean time, you can catch Barnett starring opposite Natasha Lyonne in the Netflix series Russian Doll, which premiere Friday, Feb. 1, and Raymund in the upcoming The Starz series Hightown. Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
